About Siyabonga Ceramics

The man behind the brand
From humble beginnings in the township of Gugulethu , Siyabonga grew up surrounded by creativity. With a father and two brothers who were passionate about art, Siyabonga’s love for painting began at an early age.

In 1998, Siyabonga enrolled at the College of Cape Town where he studied Art. He was introduced to ceramics in 1999 and his love affair with this specific skill grew from there. Siyabonga won a few prestigious awards for sculptures and posters he designed and graduated as the best N2 student in his first year.

After college, Siyabonga found work in Kalk Bay but after 4 years he decided to get back to the books and further his studies; focusing on Business Management and Skills. This gave Siyabonga an opportunity to freelance – both nationally and internationally; giving him the competitive edge he needed to succeed.

The Siyabonga Ceramics studio is situated at The Palms Lifestyle Centre in Woodstock, Cape Town and is open to the public.
